Dredging shallow portions of the lake

Just wondering if anyone has looked into the cost of dredging the channel and other areas of the lake?  The channel between the north and south parts of the lake is very shallow in spots and I wonder how often or if it can be dredged.  I would love to see some other shallow areas on the lake dredged as well, but no sure if it is a possibility.

I know John mentioned that someone dredges the lagoon in the north east part of the lake but I’m not sure who it is, how often it happens or if it costs anyone anything.

There are a bunch of neighbors who’d like to address the bay you guys live in, so if there’s a lead on who could dredge it out, maybe there’d be enough interest to make it happen?

I’m sure john’ll jump in here.

Matt - My understanding is that there are two areas on the lake where ongoing dredging occurs: County Ditch #2 which drains into Long Lake from Pike Lake and the lagoon area after the trestle bridge on Rice Creek.

Ramsey County is responsible for dredging Ditch #2.  They're supposed to do it every 5 years, but it's usually longer than that.

I believe RCWD has been responsible for dredging the lagoon area where sediment tend to build up.

Otherwise, I'm not aware of any precedent for dredging the channel between to bays or other problem shallow areas.  Perhaps Leon could chime in on the channel.
